Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Mix pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs, and pumpkin pie spice together in a bowl until well combined. Pour into the prepared dish.
Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over top; drizzle butter and sprinkle walnuts evenly over cake mix.
